How to access the SPEDCO training modules:

Universal Design for Learning

This training will guide your through the basics of Universal Design for Learning.  UDL is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn.

UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone--not a single, one-size-fits-all solution, but flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.


Accommodations, Modifications & Supports

This training will walk you through the difference between accommodations. modifications and supports.  This training can be used for administration, special education staff and general education teachers.


Extended School Year (ESY)

This training will guide you through the process and compliance of extended school year. It will prepare you to appropriately consider ESY for your students each year.


Writing an IEP

This training will walk you through the federal guidelines of writing an Individual Education Plan ‘IEP’ with practical explanations and examples.  You will be instructed on writing a compliant, meaningful and easily implemented IEP.


Child Find

This is an annual required training for all staff and administration working in the building. You will fulfill your requirement for training and receive an in-depth understanding of Child Find.


Transitions

Students who are of appropriate age, starting as young as age 14, have a mandatory plan as part of their IEP to reach post-secondary goals.  This training will guide you through writing a compliant and meaningful transition plan as part of the IEP process.


SCRAM

This training will guide you through the required reporting for your student’s eligibility category and time spent with general ed peers that meet state requirements for funding.  This training is specific to Utah systems of reporting.


Eligibility

This training will give you an overall understanding of the initial eligibility and re-evaluation process. The training focuses on the compliance of eligibility, not the team decision that should be used when considering each eligibility category.


Preventing and Responding to Challenging Behavior

This training will give you an overview of why behavior occurs; responding rather than reacting; and 5 high leverage strategies.  Glenn Dyke gives in-depth examples of the ABC’s of behavior.
